Battlefield’s scale is part of its identity. For the Single Player Campaign trailer, the musical task was to give that scale an extra edge through percussion.
A trailer has several stories happening at once: the dialogue introduces the stakes, the picture builds the world, and the effects put you inside it. The music needs to carry momentum through all three without competing for every moment.
The focus is music enhancement: percussion that belongs to the trailer’s existing musical world.
The picture provides the structure. Changes in pace, moments of dialogue and key action beats suggest where rhythmic energy can build, hold back or land. A strong accent matters most when the moments around it give it room.
Find the existing musical pulse and strengthen it, make it feel like war.
Give selected moments a stronger musical presence, instead of treating every single drum as a climax.
Keep room around voices and effects so the trailer’s story stays readable.
That distinction matters when listening to the finished film. Percussion is part of a larger soundtrack; the experience comes from how it sits alongside the score, speech and sound effects.
Take a listen to the before and after below. The percussion sounds bigger, hits harder, and feels right at home on the battlefield.
